Patient Spotlight
We have so many patients at Speech Pathway who have long journeys that require incredibly hard work from their entire family and we want to start recognizing them for the effort they put in daily! Each month we’ll be highlighting up to 5 patients who have shown so much improvement throughout their marathon in speech therapy. See our amazing patients below!
Gabriel W.
Gabriel is the sweetest four year old who has been attending therapy for two years. He has achieved so much since starting therapy. He went from only being able to say a handful of words to being able to sing full songs! He can clearly communicate to his parents when he needs something and he can also ask questions which was something he struggled with for a long time. Gabriel’s mother is incredibly proud of his progress. “Gabriel has been dealt a lot of cards in his 4 years of life and he has handled each card like a champ! He may not realize it yet but he has truly been an inspiration for so many others around him and we hope that continues in his life!” Miss Abby loves getting to hang out with this sweet boy each week! “He has the biggest heart and loves to share silly moments. He has worked so hard in his years at Speech Pathway and has made tremendous progress. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for him!” Gabriel, it is such a privilege getting to watch you grow! Way to go, bud!
Joseph M.
Joseph is an awesome seven year old who has been in therapy for four years. His mom is so proud of how far he has come! “Joseph has learned so much at Speech Pathway! Now Joseph can communicate on any subject with family and friend.! He has worked so hard to achieve his speech sounds. We are so proud of him and thankful for his speech therapists! Joseph is a kind boy that works hard. He loves rock climbing and Minecraft.” Mr. Kirk and Miss Maddie love working with Joseph, as he has the best personality and his willingness to try anything is unmatched! Way to work hard, Joseph!
Amran K.
Amran has spent many years at Speech Pathway and has grown up so much in his time here! He’s seven years old and full of personality. Amran communicates well with his device and has started producing sounds! Miss Kylie loves getting to work with Amran because, “He has a smile that lights up a room, a contagious laugh, and loves to have fun and be silly. Amran enjoys jumping on the trampoline and is working hard towards his communication!” Amran is the sweetest boy and we love seeing him take big steps in his communication! Way to work hard, Amran!
Spotlight on: Walk for Apraxia 2022
There was a fantastic turn out for the Walk for Apraxia in Oklahoma City this year! Apraxia of speech is dear to the hearts of us at Speech Pathway, as we treat so many patients with this speech disorder that affects 0.1-0.2% of the population. Childhood apraxia of speech is “a neurological childhood speech sound disorder in which the precision and and consistency of movements underlying speech are impaired in the absence of neuromuscular deficits” (ASHA, 2007b). In short, it’s difficulty performing the motor patterns necessary for speech production. So many of our therapists have done extensive training in childhood apraxia of speech and have a passion for helping children with this diagnosis reach their full communicative potential. So on Saturday, October 1, we walked to help raise awareness for the kids who come to therapy multiple times per week, to applaud the parents who shuttle their kids to multiple therapies per week, and the support systems who are ever-present for our kids. There was magic, music, food, characters, and so much community-building for an otherwise small group. The Walk for Apraxia is about bringing families together to share experiences and walk similar journeys. We love participating in this event and we were so thankful to be a part of it after four years of waiting for it to come back in person. Join us next year for an amazing event!

Welcome, Baby Hazel!
Miss Maddie and her husband, Bray, welcomed Hazel Claire Humphreys into the world on August 23 at 8 pounds and 22 inches long. Miss Maddie and Hazel are thriving at home and Speech Pathway is excited to have so much new life around!

ABA Conference
Mr. Kent and Miss Lauren attended Oklahoma’s FIRST ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) conference this month! They networked, met some amazing people, and listened to impressive continuing education! They’re both excited to implement everything they learned into the program here at Speech Pathway. Shout out to them!
GROUPS ARE BACK!
Group registration is LIVE for the 2022-2023 school year and we’re excited to have multiple options available for each age group! Groups are perfect for any kiddo and are run by trained professionals in the areas of behavior and communication to assist in social interaction at age-appropriate levels. Our groups range from preschool (3.5-6 years old), to intermediate (7-12 years old), to adolescent (13+ years old). Check out our website for days, times, and pricing information!
