We have so many patients at Speech Pathway who have long journeys that require incredibly hard work from their entire family and we want to start recognizing them for the effort they put in daily! Each month we’ll be highlighting a few of our patients who have shown so much improvement throughout their marathon in speech therapy. See our amazing patients below!
Imani is another friend of Miss Katie’s. Miss Katie describes her as “a sweet and spunky girl who loves to show off the skills she learns in our treatment sessions”. Imani is 5 years old and has been in speech therapy for two years. Her mom says she is a very hard worker and loves skittles. So do we Imani! Imani comes to see Miss Katie each week and works very diligently at home to help generalize her skills to other parts of her life. Miss Katie considers it a privilege to work with Imani and looks forward to seeing her continued progress. We agree with Miss Katie, Imani is a treasure here at the clinic and we have all enjoyed watching her improve her communication skills. Keep working hard!
Crew is a fun 4 year old who has shown great progress in his speech-language skills. In just two short years, Crew’s teachers report that they can understand him more and more everyday and that he his confidence has improved his social skills at school. Crew can communicate much more effectively, which leads to less frustration for him and his friends and family. Crew is kind and thoughtful, always willing to help!
Miss Katie loves his willingness to work on his speech sounds and the humor he brings to their speech sessions. Crew has a great family support system, which has made a big impact on his progress, and Miss Katie loves hearing how his teachers and family members are understanding him more. She can’t wait to see the progress he’ll make as they continue on their speech journey. And neither can we! Keep up the great work, Crew!
Carson is one of Miss Kylie’s rockstars. He is 6 years old and has been a friend of ours for four years. Miss Kylie say’s that Carson has the biggest heart. He loves everyone he meets and is always up for making a new friend. Carson loves learning all about dinosaurs and stars! He is very talented, a musician and an artist! Carson also loves helping his dad build and dig in the garden. Carson is such a very hard worker and has learned to say his name along with all of his family members names. He can tell someone where he lives if he ever has an emergency and can talk to a friend about the things he has done in a day. Miss Kylie and the rest of us at Speech Pathway are super proud of Carson and are looking forward to hearing more about his successes. Keep up the hard work, Carson!
We have a few spots left for all of our camps this summer! We’re excited to see what the summer holds for Speech Spot, Kid Connect, and Intense Academy! Head over to our Camp Communicate page to check out what weeks we still have available. We’d love to have you join us for some summer fun! If you are not interested in attending camps but know someone who is and would benefit from financial support, check out our option to gift a camp!
Intense Academy is an intensive camp focused on improving oral-motor planning and/or articulation skills. Camp is offered for 2 weeks each session, campers are required to attend both weeks of camp. Camp will also target behavioral intervention as it pertains to the child’s ability to effectively participate in group activities and comply with instructions as well as improving communication behaviors. The camp will typically run for three hours each day M-F and will be individualized to what each child needs. Campers will participate in individual, small group, and large group sessions to target communication goals and comply with instructions to improve the ability to participate in joint/group activities. The focus will be to decrease frustration while increasing communication and social skills. Group parent/caregiver training and question/answer sessions will also be provided for carryover of skills within the home program or coordination of services with the child’s private therapists. Camp generally has a one to one ratio of adults to children. Staff includes Speech-Language Pathologists, Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, graduate student interns, and undergraduate student volunteers. Camps will also have the guidance of a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst and/or a Registered Behavior Technician to assist staff with facilitation of social and communication targets. Children generally make marked progress during this intense camp, and past data has shown that the primary change has been that speech therapy and home programs are more effective throughout the coming year after this intensive intervention and training.
Speech Spot is focused on providing intervention at a more intense rate than what your child would receive in a typical week of speech therapy. Campers will be provided two individual speech session per day, targeting goals that are important for their communicative success, as well as multiple group sessions throughout the day. Camp will generally have a ratio of one adult to two campers. Staff includes Speech-Language Pathologists, Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, graduate student interns, and undergraduate student volunteers. Speech Spot is open to any families excited to take advantage of summer vacation to make a significant change in their child’s speech and language skills! Think Speech Spot is the camp for you? We’d love to help your child meet their full potential through individualized and group therapy!
Kid Connect focuses on primarily group intervention with 2 individual sessions per week. Since we’ve already developed a great program with our yearly social groups, why not continue them through the summer? With ratios of one adult to three campers, our Speech-Language Pathologists, Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, graduate student interns, and undergraduate student volunteers are skilled in targeting social communication and language development through group games, activities, and intervention methods. Kid Connect is a place where your child can belong; they can find friends, be themselves, and work on interacting with others in a safe environment under the supervision of professionals skilled in facilitating social communication. We’d love to bring this connection into your lives!

All of our staff is highly trained in communication and behavior as well as facilitating social interactions. Our staff will help your child grow in a safe, encouraging environment while forming relationships, building confidence, and having fun!
This is a great question and one we can only answer by getting to know your child a little better. When you fill out your application, check the boxes to let us know what camps you may be interested in. The more information you give us on the application, the better able we are to find the right fit for your child. Intense Academy offers intensive intervention to facilitate functional communication. Speech Spot is our camp for less intense intervention, but those who still need some extra work on speech and language development. Kid Connect is an extension of our groups program that focuses on social communication and relationship-building. You Ask We Answer is a place you can come to find answers to all the burning questions you, as a parent, may have about speech, language, feeding or Speech Pathway in general- straight from the horses mouth! Or, in our case, the minds of our brilliant, yet humble, experts in communication.
Will you guys be getting an occupational therapy department?
We are currently on the lookout for both an Occupational Therapist (OT) and a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to become valued members of our team. An inviting corner office is eagerly awaiting the perfect duo! Our commitment to enhancing the lives of our families drives us to continually explore new avenues, and we unanimously believe that integrating Occupational Therapy services is the key to achieving this goal.
In the meantime, know that speech-language pathologists and their assistants treat every patient as a WHOLE. That means fine and large motor skills as well as sensory needs are incorporated into every session. We hope this approach reflects our commitment to enhancing the overall well-being and maximizing the therapeutic benefits for our patients. If you know of an amazing OT/COTA, please send them our way!
Summer is a great opportunity to take advantage of an open schedule to really hit your speech and language goals hard. We’d love to help you meet your goals, but sometimes insurance can take a while to process. Maybe you want to take advantage of our summer slam program? Let your clinician know NOW so that they can request the appropriate amount of units for your child. Know someone who wants to get started this summer? Have them fill out the intake form NOW so they can get started ASAP!
All you have to do is pay in cash for your session and you’ll receive a 5% credit to your account! Reach out to our front desk for more information on how you can get the biggest bang for your buck by helping us avoid credit card fees! Ask the front desk about it at your next visit!
Have you ever been curious why your clinician targets certain sounds with your child? Well, it’s because it’s research-backed! Our newest norms for articulation development were developed in 2018 from a cross-linguistic review. We know now that all sounds should be mastered by 6 years old. If your child doesn’t have all of their sounds at 6, or you know someone who does not have all of their sounds at 6 years old, send them over to us!
Spring break plans? Then tell your clinician as soon as you can! We want to make up your sessions before you leave, and the sooner you let us know you’re going to miss a session, the easier it is to reschedule! We appreciate your communication!
