Patient Spotlight
We have so many patients at Speech Pathway who have long journeys that require incredibly hard work from their entire family and we want to start recognizing them for the effort they put in daily! Each month we’ll be highlighting a few of our patients who have shown so much improvement throughout their marathon in speech therapy. See our amazing patients below!
Daniel K.
Daniel is a spunky five year old who has been in therapy for three years. He has made so much progress in his time with Speech Pathway and we love getting to see him each week! Miss Katie gets to see Daniel on the regular and loves his enthusiasm and jokes! “He is very friendly and wants others to be happy too!” Way to go on all you hard work, Daniel!
Judah M.
Judah is an awesome four year old who has been in therapy for two years. He has grown so much in his time in therapy, most notably his love of greeting people, introducing himself, having conversations, verbally expressing his needs, wants, concerns, asking questions, singing songs, reciting memory Bible verses at school. His caregiver states, “Judah’s personality has come alive since starting at Speech Pathway. He is hilarious, intelligent, curious, has an incredible memory, and has a sweet, caring spirit.” Miss Maddie loves that Judah is always excited to come back and work hard in therapy sessions, but is still able to have fun and be silly. His imagination lights up her days! Thank you for working so hard, Judah!
Laurel O.
Laurel is a sassy six year old that has been in therapy most of her life! She started feeding therapy at just twelve weeks old and continues to make huge strides in her communication, most notably communicating her needs like asking for water or snacks. Recently Laurel started recounting her plan for the day and going through the steps. If her caregivers are moving too slowly making breakfast, she offers a bit of sass by letting them know “you are going too slow” on her device. Laurel’s caregivers want everyone to know, “Laurel is a sweet, funny, and smart little girl. She’s been through so much in her six little years but she doesn’t let any of that bring her down. She loves the playground and walking her kitties, Luna and Nova. She is always ready for an adventure!” Miss Kylie gets to spend the most time with Laurel and agrees that Laurel is the spunkiest, sassiest, and sweetest girl there is! “She has had to overcome a lot of obstacles in her life, but you will always see her with a smile on her face. She is a hard worker, has excellent family support and loves to have fun!” We love getting to witness your journey, sweet girl! Way to go, Laurel!
Jaxx C.
Jaxx is a super cool eight year old who has been attending therapy for five years. When Jaxx came to Speech Pathway at 4 years old, he was nonverbal. Daily life was a struggle for him as he was not able to communicate his thoughts, feelings, and needs. Now at eight, he is fully verbal! Jaxx loves to play with trains and hopes to be a conductor when he’s older. He’s big on travel and loves to visit new places! Miss Amy loves working with Jaxx. He “loves to be silly and have fun! He has the best laugh and a big imagination. Jaxx works hard during every session and has made great progress with his social skills. I love seeing his smile and how proud he is when he tries something new and figures it all out. He has a kind heart and cares about others. Jaxx is truly one of a kind!” His caregivers want everyone to know, “We can not thank the staff for all the hard work they have done with our son!” We cannot thank YOU guys enough for your hard work! We love seeing your progress, Jaxx! Way to go!
Cross H.
Cross is a fun seven year old who has been in therapy for two years. “Cross’s confidence has soared since he began participating in speech. Speech has also helped him become a more confident reader,” says his caregiver (and we LOVE to hear it!). He’s now able to communicate his needs, make friends easily, tell jokes and make up silly stories. Mr. Michael loves getting to work with Cross each week! “He is a fun and kind boy who comes to speech with the biggest smile. He is always okay with working hard as long as there is some silly fun sprinkled in. He is a talented artist and often beats me in pictionary. In the past year he has made incredible strides in his speech and language goals!” We love getting to watch you grow, Cross! Way to be awesome!

We’re excited to announce that the applications for Camp Communicate are OPEN! We’re rolling out a few new camps this year on top of our classic Intense Academy. Spring 2023 Group Registration is OPEN!
If you’ve been waiting to register for groups, we’re ecstatic to let you know that you can enroll NOW for the spring! Groups are perfect for any child and are run by trained professionals in the areas of behavior and communication to assist in social interaction at age-appropriate levels. Our groups range from preschool (3.5-6 years old), to intermediate (7-12 years old), to adolescent (13+ years old). Check out our website for days, times, and pricing information! You do not have to be a patient at Speech Pathway to enjoy the benefits of groups! Come join us!
New Year, New Building!
Here’s the latest update:
If you’ve driven just west of Council Rd. on 122nd Street, you’ve noticed there’s a sign on a new building indicating “Future Home of Speech Pathway”. There are doors on all of the rooms! The kitchen and feeding therapy area is completed. Now we await appliances to be installed! Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to move-in day!

Attendance Drawings
- Our first attendance drawing is coming up the first week in February! Did you have 100% attendance for this month? If so, you’re entered in a drawing for a $50 gas card! We’ll be having drawings each quarter (the first is January-March) for a $100 gas card for those patients with 85% attendance. Each month, we’ll draw for a $50 gas card for those with 100% attendance! We love to say thank you for all you do to make sure your child gets to therapy each week!
Winter Speech Carryover
- Make snow by mixing 5 cups of baking soda + 1 cup of conditioner! You can create opportunities for practice by adding a little bit of ingredients at a time while practicing your child’s target sound!
- Take orders for hot chocolate! This can be used in varying ways, such as following directions from others, giving directions to others, using auditory memory strategies (writing down orders), asking questions for clarification, and practicing speech sounds (by adding ingredients after practicing your target sound). There are multiple ways to vary the ingredients as well! Grab large marshmallows, small white marshmallows, small multicolored marshmallows, different cups, and different packets of hot chocolate!
- For early language, try to go outside (if it’s not too cold) and talk about what you see! Working on expanding language by describing the cold ground, the white snow, or the frozen water are great ways to help your child achieve their language goals! Adding in phrases such as “I see…” or “I found…” helps establish baseline commenting as well!
- With the cold weather, have your child call their favorite restaurant to order a hot meal over the phone! Phone calls can target fluency as well as speech sound carryover! If they prefer in-person, let them take the reigns when ordering their meal at a restaurant!
