Patient Spotlight

We are continually inspired by how amazing our clients are and the hard work they bring to our clinic every day. Each child’s journey is unique, and their progress, determination, and growth never fail to impress us. We’re excited to introduce a few special kiddos and share a glimpse into their individual journeys—celebrating milestones, effort, and the incredible accomplishments that make each story so meaningful.

Brooklyn M.

Brooklyn is 11 years old and has been in therapy at Speech Pathway for seven years. Throughout her time with us, her confidence and communication skills have grown tremendously. She now introduces herself with ease, makes friends wherever she goes, and continues to show steady progress at school.

As she navigates her speech journey and auditory processing disorder, Brooklyn demonstrates determination and resilience. She is always engaged during therapy sessions and gives it her all—no matter how many times it takes to work through challenging multisyllabic words. Mr. Kirk says her dedication and positive attitude truly stand out.

Brooklyn is caring, creative, and compassionate, always wanting to lift others up when they’re feeling down. She loves creating art through drawing and painting and spends hours each week bringing colorful ideas to life. Her creativity has grown alongside her speech, and recently some of her artwork was turned into stickers that she proudly shared with family and friends.

Brooklyn’s growth—in her speech, confidence, and creativity—has been a joy to witness, and we are so proud of the progress she continues to make.

Kenley W.

Kenley is 7 years old and has been part of our therapy family for the past four years. During that time, she has made incredible progress—especially in articulating her words. Her growth has been inspiring to watch, and she continues to shine more every day.

Beyond her hard work, Kenley is truly the most loving soul. She has the biggest heart, a joyful spirit, and a kindness that radiates to everyone around her. We are so proud of all she has accomplished and of the amazing person she is becoming.

Miss Amy, who works closely with Kenley, shares:
“I love working with Kenley! She has the best attitude and is always smiling and laughing. Kenley is creative, kind, and curious—if you get the pleasure to meet her in the clinic, she will always stop and say hi and usually ask you a question. Kenley does not let her communication delays stop her from doing amazing things every day. She shows such bravery when trying new or difficult tasks during speech-language therapy sessions. I continue to be amazed by her tenacity, determination, and optimism, and feel very lucky to be part of her communication journey.”

Kenley’s courage, warmth, and determination remind us why we love what we do.

Ben W.

Ben is 11 years old and has been in therapy for 9½ years. His journey is a powerful reminder of what consistent support, teamwork, and belief can do.

In speech therapy, Ben can now answer “Yes” and “No” questions. With this skill, he is expressing likes and dislikes, making choices, and actively participating in conversations. Ben is also using “First, Then” language to sequence events, which has been incredibly helpful in reducing anxiety and increasing predictability in his day.

In ABA, the team tackled a big, real-life goal: helping Ben prepare for meal times during their Disney World trip and Disney Cruise. Through intentional planning, practice, and support, the ABA team helped turn that worry into a reality. Ben and his family were able to enjoy meals together.

And then there’s Ben himself. He is sweet, loving, capable, and genuinely funny. His sense of humor lights up the clinic. His progress is the result of his hard work, his family’s trust, and a team that truly believes in him.

Ben, we see you. We’re proud of you. And we can’t wait to see what you do next.

🎃🍬A Spooktacular Night at Trunk or Treat! 🎃🍬

What a frightfully fun evening we had at our Halloween Trunk or Treat! Families from all around the community came together for a safe, festive, and laughter-filled celebration that was overflowing with costumes, creativity, and candy.

Our Trunk or Treat was more than just candy—it was a celebration of community. We are so grateful to everyone who decorated a trunk, volunteered their time, and joined us to make the event such a huge success.

From the moment the trunks popped open, the fun began! Each decorated vehicle had its own unique theme—from spooky and silly to cute and colorful—and the kids absolutely loved visiting every stop.

Thank you to all who came out and made this Trunk or Treat one to remember. We can’t wait to do it again next year—bigger, better, and even more boo-tiful!

🎅A Magical Day of Pictures with Santa 🎅

The holiday spirit was in full swing at our recent Pictures with Santa event, and what a joyful day it was!

The festive setup created the perfect holiday backdrop, complete with seasonal décor that added an extra touch of magic to each photo. Parents loved having the opportunity to capture professional-quality pictures while enjoying a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.

Beyond the photos, the event was a wonderful chance for families to slow down and enjoy the simple joys of the season—laughter, togetherness, and holiday cheer. We were thrilled to see so many familiar faces and to welcome new ones as well.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make Pictures with Santa such a success. Your enthusiasm and holiday spirit truly made the day unforgettable. We hope these photos bring smiles to your homes throughout the season and beyond. 🎄✨

Social Groups Begin!

🌟 Connect, Communicate, Grow: Social Groups at Speech Pathway

Helping children build communication and social skills in a fun, supportive group environment

At Speech Pathway, we believe that meaningful connections with peers are just as important as one-on-one therapy. That’s why our social groups are thoughtfully designed to help children ages 2½–18 build confidence, communication skills, emotional regulation, and friendship skills in engaging, age-appropriate settings.

🧸 Preschool Language Group

Ages: 3–4 years
Focus: Early social interaction and school readiness

Perfect for children who are not yet in school or attend part-time Mother’s Day Out, this group uses play-based learning to support:

Peer interaction skills

Engaging in group activities

Following directions

Early language development

It’s a gentle, playful environment that prepares little learners for future social and school experiences.

📚 Early Elementary Language Group

Ages: 4–7 years
Focus: Social development for school-age children

This group is ideal for children who are already attending school full-time and still working on foundational communication skills. Kids enjoy:

Language learning through play and interaction

Navigating social routines and expectations

Improved participation in group settings

Though similar to the preschool group, this one is tailored for school-aged communication challenges and opportunities.

🎯 Intermediate Social Group

Ages: 7–12 years
Focus: Building practical social skills

Once children have basic communicative intent and engagement, this group helps them apply those skills with peers. The curriculum includes:

Initiating and sustaining conversation

Asking and answering questions

Self-advocacy

Understanding personal space

Following and giving directions

Each session includes guided practice and easy home games to support carryover.

💬 Adolescent Social Group

Ages: 13–18 years
Focus: Advanced social communication and self-awareness

Teen years bring new challenges — and this group meets them with engaging activities that strengthen:

Initiating and maintaining interactions

Collaboration and problem-solving

Negotiation and persuasion

Making and keeping friends

Through structured activities and tools like Superflex strategies (a curriculum that makes self-regulation fun and relatable), teens build confidence in real-world communication.

📅 How It Works

Speech Pathway runs these social groups in blocks, typically over 13 sessions, where kids can grow over time alongside peers. The groups take place in our dedicated Group Activities room, designed to mimic familiar environments while fostering growth and connection.

Quick Facts:

📆 Groups are offered on various days/times throughout the week.

💲 Cost is $520 per 13 weeks (with options for individual session drop-ins).

🚫 Group services are self-pay only; insurance is not billed.

👥 Group size is kept small (no more than 12 children) to maximize engagement and learning.

Parents are not present in the group room during sessions to keep the space distraction-free and supportive.

🧠 Who Benefits?

Our social groups are designed to support kids with a range of needs, including:

Autism Spectrum Disorder

ADHD

Social anxiety

Developmental delays

Apraxia

Sensory processing challenges

Undiagnosed social communication challenges

Children who could benefit from these groups often show needs in areas like joint attention, social reciprocity, emotional regulation, perspective taking, and friendship skills.

🎉 Ready to Join?

If you’re wondering whether a group is right for your child, the team at Speech Pathway is happy to help guide your decision — especially if your child is on the cusp of an age range. Just reach out to their office and they’ll walk you through the best fit

communication, social interaction, and confidence through engaging activities and meaningful peer connections. We’re proud of the growth we’re seeing and look forward to continued progress in the weeks ahead.
