Patient Spotlight
We have so many patients at Speech Pathway who have long journeys that require incredibly hard work from their entire family and we want to start recognizing them for the effort they put in daily! Each month we’ll be highlighting up to 5 patients who have shown so much improvement throughout their marathon in speech therapy. See our amazing July patients below!
Vivian A.
Vivian is a sweet 6 year old who has been in therapy at Speech Pathway for two years. Vivian has worn hearing technology since birth, but you’d never guess because her language and articulation are so amazing! Vivian’s caregiver is proud of how much language she’s gained through therapy and is excited that Vivian can be understood by people who are meeting her for the first time. It’s also incredible how Vivian has learned to advocate for herself, which is huge for someone with hearing loss! Miss Ali sees Vivian each week for therapy and noted that she is one of the most courageous little friends that Miss Ali has ever met! “Her spunk and sass are going to make her a mover and shaker in this world and it’s so fun to get to see her grow.” I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes! Vivian’s family has shown me what incredible advocates look like and it’s just been the coolest to see her journey unfold and see her grow through every challenge thrown her way!” We love watching Vivian grow and seeing how her skills develop! We are so proud of you, Vivian!
Viktor C.
Viktor is an incredible 7 year old kiddo who has been in therapy for 5 years. He was nonverbal when starting therapy at two and a half years old and started using a communication device through Soonerstart. Viktor has been at Speech Pathway for 4 years and during that time, has flourished in his verbal speech development. Once he started, his voice couldn’t be stopped and his mother is thankful for all of the support in his development. Viktor can now introduce himself to others. He has been able to order his food at a restaurant and says, “Excuse me,” when accidentally bumping into someone. He was able to interact with his cousins at the family reunion last month and loves to read “Brown Bear Brown Bear, What Do You See?” to his little brother. Miss Stephanie has worked with Viktor since he started at Speech Pathway and had difficulty putting into words how much this kiddo means to her. Watching Viktor find his voice both through a device in the beginning, then verbally the past few years has been incredibly exciting for her. “So many families walk through our doors and leave an impression on your heart, but Viktor will always be a kiddo that has a permanent place in mine. He works so hard day in and day out and has exceeded expectations for his language development. Each year he makes leaps and bounds of progress and it’s because he has such an amazing work ethic and an admirable support system at home. Viktor is truly one of a kind!” We have loved getting to watch Viktor grow through the past four years and we’re so thankful we get to see him each week! Way to go, Viktor!
Zoey J.
Zoey has been in therapy for three and a half years and is now a sweet 6 year old with so much spunk. When she started at Speech Pathway, she was very shy and would not talk with anyone. Fast forward three years and she’s talking with everyone and joining Girl Scouts because this girl is now so outgoing. Zoey’s caregiver wanted everyone to know that she loves arts and crafts, especially designing dresses for her dolls and barbies. Zoey loves swimming and soccer and she recently joined cheerleading. She can’t wait to cheer in a competition. “Zoey’s hard work with her clinicians at Speech Pathway has helped her to succeed in school.” She loves helping others and is very fascinated with firefighters and policemen and women. Watching Miss Zoey blossom into the outgoing kiddo she was meant to be has been such a privilege! Miss Ali and Miss Kylie have gotten to spend time with Zoey over the past 3.5 years and have wonderful things to say about her. Miss Ali loves Zoey’s sweet and kind heart! “Zoey and her mom have worked so hard to get to where they are, and it’s incredible to think about where she started and where she is now! Zoey is an easy friend to everyone who meets her. We all love her!” Miss Kylie can confirm that Zoey is a friend to all. “She has gained so many skills during her time here and not just in the area of speech and language. She has grown in her confidence to speak with others and her confidence in herself. She has worked so hard over the last few years and continues to do so every week!” Each clinician that sees Zoey falls in love with her sweet personality and we are so thankful to have the opportunity to watch her continue to grow! We are so proud of you, Zoey!
Eli B.
Eli is an incredible 12 year old who has been in therapy for 10 years. He has accomplished so much through communication, starting with sounds, then words, then full sentences, and onto conversation because of speech services. Eli has made incredible strides in self-advocacy as well, according to his mother: “Recently Eli had to visit the ER to get a scraped knee checked out. He was able to communicate effectively with the staff, answer all questions and advocate for himself. We couldn’t be prouder of him.” Eli is an amazing kid who has a good heart and enjoys life. It’s awesome to see his face light up when talking about his favorite interests: farming and carwashes. Mr. Michael has been Eli’s therapist for many years and confirms his incredible progress: “Eli and his family will always have a special place in my heart. I have had the honor to watch him grow over the past 5 years into an incredible ‘12 years young boy’. We have laughed together as well as argued, but most importantly-had fun together. I look forward to each and every day that I get to see Eli with his electric smile and positive energy. He truly brightens my day. Beyond that, I love his sense of wonder and creative problem-solving!” Eli and his entire family have a special place in the hearts of everyone at Speech Pathway. We love seeing his growth each week and we can’t wait to see what he can accomplish! You are amazing, Eli!
Spotlight on Camp Communicate: Intense Academy
Another year of Intense Academy is in the books and we had an amazing time! This year we welcomed twenty campers, split between morning and afternoon sessions over the weeks of July 11-22. With personalized, family-centered goals, the campers received THREE individual sessions each day as well as small and large group interventions. Families traveled from Texas, Canada, and the Oklahoma City metro for camp this year. We saw amazing strides in all of our campers as well as laid foundational skills for their future speech and language development. Our intensive camp not only provides therapy but also parent training to help with education and carryover as well as a support network for families in the same stage of life. It’s such a privilege to watch the campers learn and grow over two weeks and we’re so thankful for the opportunity to be a small part of the journey!

GROUPS ARE BACK!
Group registration is LIVE for the 2022-2023 school year and we’re excited to have multiple options available for each age group! Groups are perfect for any kiddo and are run by trained professionals in the areas of behavior and communication to assist in social interaction at age-appropriate levels. Our groups range from preschool (3.5-6 years old), to intermediate (7-12 years old), to adolescent (13+ years old). Check out our website for days, times, and pricing information! You do not have to be a patient at Speech Pathway to enjoy the benefits of groups! Come join us!
Welcome, Baby Tate!
Miss Stephanie and her husband, Travis, are excited to announce their first son, Tate Joseph Warman, was born on June 29, 2022, at 7 lbs, 8 oz and 21 inches. Miss Stephanie and Tate are both healthy and doing well and the family is off to an exciting start on their new adventure as a family of three!
Upcoming Events
Our graduate reunion and open house is coming up on August 21st from 3-5pm. We’d love for all graduates to stop by to say hi and for any prospective families to come tour the clinic! We will also be offering FREE speech/language/hearing screenings to any families interested. Spread the word!

Therapy Tip
Heading off on an adventure this summer? Here are some tips to work therapy goals into your vacation plans!
- If your mode of travel is novel to your child, you may consider incorporating a social story into your preparation for travel. A social story is picture scenes or a home-made video with emphasis on a social situation to provide your child with exposure to the scene prior to their experience.
- This can look like your child going through the motions of: practicing going through airport security and boarding a plane (film it); practicing where they will be seated on a long car ride (take pictures or film it); going to a hotel and walking through check in and using the elevator (take pictures or film it); or looking at the website of your destination beforehand!
- Bring activities with you to incorporate language! Water Wow books, puffy stickers, wikki stix, and suction cup toys are all fun options.
- Bring an old calculator and your child can “purchase” items that you find on vacation. The calculator can act as a cash register to talk about all the items and toys you have from your trip!
- If you’re looking to purchase small new toys, place them in eggs for your child to open each hour. They can request, comment, work on colors, say their target sound 5 times before receiving the egg, and talk about what is inside.
- String Cheerios or Fruit Loops on a pipe cleaner! While working on language through counting, color recognition, big and small, requesting, commenting, and trials of your child’s target sound, you can also get small work on fine motor skills!
- Write on Post-It notes and have your child stick them around the car or their airplane seat. You can work on target sounds, requesting, or commenting! The clean up is easy and the activity is fun to cover as much area as possible!
