2022 Kid connection

Enrollment Opens December 1st

What's the big idea?

“As the Directors of Speech Pathway, Emily and I (Kent) know first hand what it’s like to have a child with special needs.  We can’t just drop our son off anywhere.  We want him to be able to attend a summer camp with other kids but the idea of him being in an untrained environment is just too much for us.  We wanted him to go to a place where we knew the staff is trained on how to handle communicative behaviors.  We couldn’t find one, so we made one.

We piloted the program for a few years and it has been a huge success, so now it is a permanent summer event!  This is a day camp option where kids of all needs can come to a place where it’s safe to be who they are and if they need to have a melt down, that’s okay.  We want the parents to leave knowing that we’re fine with it”

                                                                                                                                               – Kent and Emily Hathaway

Who can go?

Children ages 5 and up are invited to attend camps. We ask that your child be potty trained and able to communicate their basic wants and needs. As an INCLUSIVE camp we are  committed to ensuring your child’s success during their time with us. We encourage parents and guardians to reach out to us to discuss any accommodations or needs that your child may have. Letting us know of potential behaviors in advance allows us to create proactive strategies for your child with your input.

Camp Hours

Camp is from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. Camp check in is at 9:00 a.m. and check-out is from 2:50-3:00 p.m.  Aftercare is available if needed from 3:00-6:00pm for an additional $100 per week.

Snacks and Lunch

All students should bring a water bottle, clearly labeled with their name.  For all day programs, students will need to bring a sack lunch.  Students will be provided with 2 snacks each day. Please ensure all nondisposable lunch boxes and drink bottles are clearly labeled with your child’s name. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure children are provided with adequate lunch daily. While an effort is made to contact parents and/or provide lunch for children who have forgotten, we do not guarantee our ability to do so.

Seems expensive, why?

Our adult leaders are Speech-Language Pathologists and Assistants.  They are highly trained in purposeful play, language prompting, communication challenges, augmentative and alternative communication devices, facilitated play AND loving kids.  Our leaders cost more because they are qualified, trained, and very awesome.  Ratio of adults to children is typically around 1:5.

Do you offer discounts?

YES! Sign up for 4 camps receive a 10% discount. Sign up for 8 or more camps and receive a 20% discount.

*Discount applies to each individual child and cannot be combined (each child must be enrolled in the specified number of camps to receive the discount and each child will be eligible for their own discount based on number of camps they are enrolled in).
